Tell us a little about yourself.
Brandon Dorsey, known as the artists/dancer “Brand1”, is a multi-disciplinary Chicago artist. Having grown up in the fine, street art, and hip-hop culture, specifically painting, dancing & writing, he has been working the past year on releasing more artwork again, as dance has been his main focus for quite some time now.
What kind of art do you create?
I mainly work on found/functional objects, murals, and wood-based projects when it comes to painting, though, performing and choreographing when it comes to dance.
How did you get started?
I started painting at a very young age, probably around 11/12, though, spent the last fifteen years focusing more on dance as my main creative medium. While I took a little break, I’ve been working the past year to release more artwork as the fire has been reignited to paint again.
How would you describe your artistic style?
With the use of layering, direction, and multiple mediums, my artwork is an intuitive look into rhythm and movement through vibrancy in color and expressive, linear strokes.
