Tony Lewis is a Chicago artist focused largely on the medium of drawing. His recent compositions involve associative wordplay with graphite letters. Words like “people” and “color” are isolated and poetically organized to inspire a breakdown of language, encouraging a variety of personal, pop-cultural, political, and aesthetic meanings. Tony Lewis received his BA from Washington and Jefferson College in 2008, and received an MFA from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 2012. He is represented by the Shane Campbell Gallery, Chicago.
